Egg Hunts and General Conference

What a wonderful, sunny week this has been!  We've had lots of fun adventures...

Logan loves to make new friends... every time we go to the park/museum/library/store he will watch all the kids for a little bit.  Then he will choose a new friend, follow them around until they acknowledge him, and then introduce himself.  Almost always, they are at least 5 years his elder. :)  The past week he made a nice new friend named Morgan.  He fell in love with this second grader, and Morgan and her grandma fell in love with him.  And they decided that Logan needed a trike... so they gave him one....

It's about 50 years old, and Logan loves it!  I almost started crying when they brought it out and Logan jumped on it and started pedaling down the street.  When, exactly, did my baby boy learn how to ride a trike?!  I'm planning on sanding it down and putting a fresh coat of paint on it

On Friday the MSA had an easter egg hunt!  Logan was so excited, and Ryley had him practicing picking up eggs for a few days before.  When the egg hunt started, Logan raced to the first egg... and stopped.  It was in the shape of a monkey!  He soon realized that some of the eggs were animals, and refused to put any eggs in his basket that weren't some sort of animal.  He's a fast little guy though, and still managed to bring home a full basket of eggs filled with candy. :)

On Saturday Logan and I planted some herbs.  Logan was so cute putting all the seeds in, and watering them with his itty bitty watering can.  He keeps checking the pots now, wondering why his "bean stalks" aren't higher than the clouds yet.

I absolutely loved General Conference this year!  I love creating new traditions with my cute husband, and this year we tried out a few that I think will definitely stick.....

For breakfast every conference we make Beignets.  This year, since it's so close to Easter, Ry cut them out in the shape of bunnies and flowers, and Logan made a butterfly.  They were so yummy, and we ate far too many of them.  It's a good thing for us that conference only comes twice a year. :)

 Logan sure enjoyed them...

In an attempt to keep Logan occupied during conference, I tried a neat idea I found on Pinterest.  I made a bag for each apostle, and filled it with a game/treat.  Whenever an apostle spoke, Logan got to choose the bag with the speaker's picture on it, and play with whatever was in there while he spoke.  There were a bunch of things: marbles, a notepad, play dough, squishy stuff, a GC memory game, our laminated faces, popcorn, bingo, marshmallows & toothpicks, etc.  (This is for next conference when I can't remember anything I did... :)

Here Logan shows off our marshmallow/toothpick creation... a temple!  If you look close you can see Angel Moroni on one of the spires. :)

A picture of some of the bags... nothing fancy, but Logan really, really liked it.  And he kind of paid attention!  Whenever there was a new speaker, Logan would jump up and ask if that speaker had a new bag. :)

After conference, we made pizza.  I had to document this because Ryley made the most amazing looking pizza crust in the world... hand tossed and almost a perfect circle!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, and had a chance to listen to the uplifting messages of our leaders!

Here is a video of Logan at the egg hunt.  I would advise turing off the volume, due to the fact that all you can hear is me trying to get him to put more eggs in his basket.  I knew what was in those eggs... and I wanted chocolate. ;)  At 26 weeks pregnant, chocolate is pretty much a constant craving.

St Patrick's Day

With Logan having Irish blood on both sides, we knew a Leprechaun would be visiting our house this Saint Patrick's Day....

Logan and Ry set a trap for those sneaky little Leprechauns....
and caught one!

The little green man escaped, but luckily left his treasure for us to enjoy!

A rainbow led the way....

The first thing Logan asked when he woke up was, "Where is my Leprechaun?!" and then raced upstairs....

I made the rainbow balloon arch for a primary activity we were having later that day.  Logan thought it was a snake, and rode it around the house. :)

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

24 weeks along with our little girl.. definitely showing more this time around!

Our rainbow dessert cake.  Ry and Logan made it while I made massive numbers of sugar cookies for the primary activity.  Needless to say, we have all officially been sugared out!

Hope you all had a Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Spring Break

For the last time in a very long time, Ryley was allowed a spring break.  So... we jumped in the car and headed out of Salt Lake!  First we headed off to Ely to spend some time with the family....

Aunts and Uncles can wear a guy out!

Logan's best buddy... his uncle Aydan!

We made it back to Salt Lake City just in time for the snowstorm...so Ryley could sneak in some research and studying.  Then we headed off to Moab!  Some med students were heading down to do some service with skin cancer awareness, and since we had never been to Moab before, we decided to join them.  We originally were planning on camping, but the nights were still pretty cold.  Instead we ended up renting a cute little cabin.....

Life sized chinese-checkers at our "campsite"

And life sized chess.  You can see the cute cabins in the background.

Each cabin had two beds and a heater... there was a bbq outside, and Logan loved his hot dogs and smores made over the fire!

We spent most of our time at Arches National Park.  This is "Balanced Rock".  The rock structures were so amazing!

It was almost 70 degrees in Moab, and Logan had tons of fun playing with dirt, climbing on rocks, and looking for "wizards".  (One of these days he will learn how to say his l's. :))

Double arch is behind us, but really, I just love the look on Logan's face.

Me and our baby girl at 23 weeks!

Logan was such a trooper... he was starting to come down with a bad cold here,  but he kept on smiling!  This was at Turret Arch.

Logan and his cute dad at South Window.

It was so nice to get out of town for the week and spend time with family and my two handsome men.  All of the sunshine we soaked up made us really eager for spring!  Let's hope it doesn't take too long getting here....

Our week

The Big Brother.....
is just a little bit of a nut.
Here he is on Valentine's night... apparently the fruit and other sweets for dipping into the chocolate fondue weren't good enough for Logan. :)
After this picture was taken he began smearing the chocolate all over himself.  Unfortunately, I was a bit too busy trying to keep him from smearing chocolate all over the house to get a picture of it.

Here is the man on his big boy "Buzz Lightyear" bed.  Logan picked out the bedding himself... Walmart had a clearance section.  I was hoping he would go with something a little more neutral, but once he saw Buzz, that was it. :)  He has successfully slept in this bed for over a week... Hooray!  Despite the fact that he climbs on everything, he never figured out how to get out of his crib, so it is a nice surprise every morning to wake up to his little face inches away from mine.

While nighttime sleeping has been great, nap times have almost disappeared. :(  We still put him in his room for about an hour.... today Ryley looked in and found him riding his Tow Mater truck on top of his bed while waving a golf club around.  I would love to be able to read his mind!

Logan's preferred outfit.  He loves to "save the day" with the "power to read!"

Some other fun things Logan has said this week:

After a fun Saturday together, we were all cuddled up on the couch together watching a movie.  Logan looked up at us, grinned, and said, "My happily ever after!"  Me too, bud, me too.

We were watching "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" when the dragon scene came on.  Logan was fascinated, and when Harry Potter fell off his broom and was hanging off the tower as the dragon looked for him, Logan shouted, "Harry Potter needs his mommy!"  I like to think that my son sees me as someone who can save him from dragons. :)

When I gave Logan his chocolate milk this morning, he took a big drink, looked up at me, and said, "You make me so happy!"

As for our little girl, she is a mover and a shaker!  I have actually been able to feel her moving since about week 15, and Ryley has been able to watch my belly move around since week 18.  Maybe she will take after me and be a soccer player! :)

Ry's doing great with school, and we are way excited that this is a three day weekend.  Hooray for extra family time!

Some Big News....

Three years ago on Valentine's Day I received a positive pregnancy test that turned into this crazy little boy....

This year on Valentine's Day we got to see our little girl for the first time... :)
That's right!  Our little girl will be making her appearance in the first part of July
EDD 7/7/12

We told Logan that we would bring him balloons when we got back from the doctor's office.  If the baby was a girl, we would bring him pink balloons... if it was a boy, blue.  We were hoping to bring back pictures, but the ultrasound system shut down at the end of our appointment, so they are mailing them to us.  We do have a DVD that is fun to watch...which I paused and took pictures of for the blog, so they are a little bit blurry. :)

I should put a disclaimer in that this baby was very shy, so we are just mostly sure that it is a little girl.

Celebrating with my guys at Olive Garden. :)

Almost 20 weeks along.  This was the only picture where balloons weren't completely blocking me, and Logan was decent. :)

A Big Boy Week

This has been a very big week for our little man....

Our trial run for Logan's Valentines

Marshmallow Love Bugs!

Painting his treasure box

This is why we usually paint with vanilla pudding.
This was NOT vanilla pudding... after taking this picture, Logan licked his hand.
Clean up was extra fun. :)

Our self-proclaimed "Super-Loge!"

Bum da da dum bum da dum.......
A BIG BOY BED!!!
We decided that it was about time for Logan to get a big boy bed,  and after searching KSL forever, I found a better deal on Amazon... Hooray!  He has successfully had 2 naps and one full night sleep in it.  His Buzz Lightyear bedding is on the way. :)  He was so excited this morning when he woke up... he ran in to us, shouting, "I didn't sleep!  I didn't sleep in my bed.  I slept in my BIG BOY BED!"  He was so proud. :)

Logan also decided, quite randomly, that he wanted to only go potty on the potty this week.  He watched Ryley, walked upstairs to me, and informed me that he needed to go.  So I put him on the potty, and he peed.... and then pooped!  I know, TMI, but this was the first time EVER for number two.  For some reason, until this week, Logan had a really hard time with the whole pooping-while-sitting-down thing.  But now he does it.  And we are almost completely done with diapers.  I'm still just a little terrified for grocery shopping without one. :)
Here Logan is modeling his big boy undies the only way I could get him to... sticking his tushi out the door of his tent.

Logan playing with his Daddy.
Some fun things Logan has said this week...

Me:  Logan, please come pick up your toys.
Logan: I can't
Me: Why not?
Logan: I have to do my homework.

Logan: I don't want to be in my home!
Ryley: Well then, where do you want to be?
Logan: Paris

We have no idea where he even learned about Paris.  Little Einsteins, maybe?
