Apple Picking!

Yesterday we went apple picking with some friends.  It was so much fun, and afterwards we all enjoyed hot apple cider and apple doughnuts.  Ryley made 3 apple pies this afternoon, and barely made a dent in our bushel of apples. Yeah for fall!

Some updates on this funny kid:
She has learned the meaning of the word, "but."  Whenver I ask her to do something, or more likely, to stop doing something, she replies with, "But I'm...playing, eating, sleeping, itchy, sad...."
Mia is super possessive.  Of everything.  I can't even tell her I love her eyes/belly/nose without her shouting, "No!  My eyes/belly/nose etc"
Case in point:  Today Ryley asked her if she needed to urinate.  She yelled back at him,"It's not your inate, it's MY inate!! Not yours!"

Sumo, Soccer and Moose Pond

One of my children's (and my husband's) favorite past times is to stuff my couch pillows up their shirts and run at each other at terrifying speeds.  It always, always ends in tears... and yet they keep doing it.  I'll never understand.

My pirates...

and their scary pirate faces. :)

Logan started soccer this week!  At first he had a hard time, and didn't want anyone to watch him.  But, after having some long talks with mom and dad, he decided he wanted to join in the fun.  Our little guy has quite the kick!

This weekend was Ry's "resident retreat."  It was at a house on Moose Pond.  It was gorgeous there.  The retreat itself was super awkward... since most of his fellow residents are single, and spent the weekend letting loose by consuming copious amounts of alcohol.  :)  We obviously stuck out like sore thumbs, with our non- drinking/married/two-children ways.  I spent my time there cleaning up after all of Ry's super hungover coworkers, and making them dinner.  We left when things started to get wild again. :)  At the very least, Ryley learned how to play beer pong...with water instead of beer, but, he now knows all the rules.  I have a blackmail picture to prove it. ;)

Back to School

This handsome kid began his last year of preschool this past week.  He was so, so excited!  Logan has  asked me literally every day for the past two months when he would get to start school again.

Silly kid wanted a picture with "leaf lips"

In true little sister fashion, Mia had to have a backpack for school too. :)  She was so confused the whole time Logan was gone, and kept having mini panic attacks every time she would realize he wasn't with us.  "Oh no, mommy!  Logan's not in his carseat!"  "Oh no, mommy!  Logan's hiding!"

He had such a great day, and told me his very favorite part was when they did circle time and he got to play with play dough. He made lots of friends and his teacher pulled me aside the next day and told me, "Logan is such a joy to be with.  He is so kind to everyone, and so sweet to his friends.  I enjoy him so much!"    What lucky parents we are, to have our Logie!

In the past couple of weeks, Logan's writing and drawing skills have improved dramatically.  He never used to like doing either thing, and now he always has a pencil with him!
Logan drew a story.... absolutely no help from anyone.  The bottom section are magic beans in a bag... the left one is a shark carrying the beans.  The top one is Superhero Jack flying away with the beans after rescuing them from the shark, and the picture to the right is Jack holding the beans. :)

Logan loves to copy words.  He asked me how to write "Dr.", so I drew it on a paper for him to see.  He brought me this paper he made, with Dr. Logan and Dr. Mia...they had been playing doctor all morning.   Also, note the T-Rex on the right. :)

At the end of one of his stories it says, "I love you, Mom"  Logan surprised me and wrote this out all by himself!

Another one of Logan's stories... involving a rat, an evil snowman, a creepy shark and a snail monster.

Logan learned the word "Exit" from one of his books.  I now have one of these signs posted on every door in my house.

And... one more fun Logan fact:

When we play Chutes & Ladders, Logan always chooses to be the little Asian girl.  After being silently confused for many a game, I finally asked him why he always chose to be her.  This was his response:

"I just love this girl.  I want her for my wife.  She's a real beauty.  She's my kind of girl!  If this girl was real, I would marry her and make her my wife."

Funny kid.

Oh My Mia

Mia is getting quite the vocabulary, and it is so funny to hear all her little thoughts.

Mia: "Oh no!  Where's my pink umbrella?!"
Me: " I don't know!"
Mia: "It's probably in my room...."

Every night Mia has me sing to her before she goes to sleep.  Usually she wants "You are my sunshine", but sung in a super silly way.  Recently, however, she requests "Baby mine" from Dumbo, and she softly fake cries through the whole song.  Silly lady.

I tried to put her water sippy cup by her bed and she shrieked, "No mommy!" and jumped down to grab it.  Then she scolded me.... "The monster will drink my water!"

The next night Mia and I had a long discussion about how the monsters were all gone.  She cheered triumphantly....and then, like the true staller she is, looked around her room for another reason to put off going to sleep.  The first thing she spotted was her rocking horse.  She then shrieked, "Oh no, mommy!  My horsey will bite my toes!  My horsey will eat my feet!"  Poor horsey was banished from the room for the night.

I bought her some new shoes to put away so she can wear them in about 6 months when she grows into them.  I have thus far been unsuccessful in the putting away part.  She wears those shoes from the moment she wakes up until she lays her head on her pillow at night.  Even then she places them at the foot of her bed.

I paint her nails every so often, when we have girls nights.  Every time she puts on her shoes, she sees her toes again.  When this happens she rips of her shoe, shows everyone her "pretty toes" and then puts her shoe back on.  Every time.
