It's a........ :)

The long awaited day of the ultrasound has finally arrived! I was almost positive that there wouldn't be a baby in there, or that it would only have one arm or one leg due to my use of chemicals in the research lab... but our baby is just fine! Perfect heart, perfect head, perfect tummy, perfect bladder, perfect little face.... Speaking of faces, it was very fun watching Ryley's face as the image of the baby came up on the screen... I don't think he really believed there was a little baby in there either! Our baby held perfectly still for all of its pictures, but kept its arms and legs stubbornly crossed. We were worried we wouldn't be able to find out what it was, but right at the end, it flipped over and revealed to us that we were going to be the proud parents of a little.... BOY! We are still in a bit of shock over the fact that there is actually a human in there, but haven't had adequate time to recover due to tests, papers, and internships.. I'm sure it will hit us later tonight....So, congratulations.. you will either have a grandson or a nephew! :)

Here is the picture of when he finally turned and revealed to us that he was a he! The scanning made the picture a little blurry, but if you look at the little diamond shape in the middle, it is right on the edge of his little thing. :) This is my favorite picture. It is looking directly down at the baby, who is in a sitting position. On the far right is the top of the baby's head... then you can see his little arms stretched out in front of him with his hands crossed on top of eachother in his lap. If you look farther to the left, you can see the outline of his little left foot. :) This is a picture of the little guy's legs. He had them crossed almost the whole time. If you look at the big black thing in the middle, right in the middle you can see the little butt cheek with a leg and a foot coming off of it, all outlined in white.

This is a picture of the baby's little face. Turn it counter clockwise.. it looks slightly alien-like, but still cute. If you look under the face you can see the baby's two little lungs.

Week 20 Appointment

Yeah! Halfway there.... Today was our week 20 appointment. Everything is going great, and the baby is growing just like it is supposed to. We heard the heartbeat again, and the doctor said it has, "nice heart tones." It was a little scary at first though, cause the naughty little baby decided to hide behind the placenta and move all around, so the doctor couldn't find it for a while. We also got to hear the baby kick...which sounded like a swish. The MCAT is done! Yeah! We almost have a normal, somewhat relaxing life right now. Ryley is just finishing the application process... well, he is supposed to be, but Sherlock Holmes has recently taken over his life. :) Can't blame him. Yesterday we were able to enjoy the company of my crazy family in Mt. Pleasant, UT. It was so much fun, and who knew that that cute little town was only 45 minutes away from the thriving metropolis we live in? Our ultrasound is scheduled for Friday, and we get to find out if we are having a a crazy little girl or a crazy little boy. Ryley thinks that we are having a girl, as does my mom and Jessi and Kassi. Chad, Chelsea and Cammi all say that it is a boy. Danny said, "I think it is a boy, but something in my head tells me its a girl." Guess that means he gets it right either way. ;) I personally have no idea about the sex of the baby. We only have 3 days until we find out! And our doctor said that his ultrasound tech is right 99.95 % of the time. More updates will follow soon.....

Clean Bathroom!

So, we finally got sick and tired of our moldy gross bathroom. Plus, we figured that we should get rid of the mold just in case it was having any adverse affects on our spawn. So, after much effort, we gutted out the shower, fixed most of the leaks, and painted it with mold free paint. At first Ryley was very reluctant to let me help, and ordered me out of the bathroom on several occasions. But, after painting all by himself for a few hours he agreed to let me help as long as I wore a respirator that was specially created for latex paint. :) Plus, my mom said that I could. Two days later, we have a very cute, much brighter, yellow bathroom. If I can figure out how to put pictures on here, I will put pictures up of it. Also occuring this past week or so: Ryley's 24th birthday! We bought shoes, planted a garden, ate apple pie, watched Batman, and played with his new helicopter, which he has since broken. It was a very good day... so good, in fact, that he forgot to go to work! hehe. Also, classes started on Tuesday, and I am beginning to doubt my judgement in taking so many credit hours. It's not really like I had a choice.... but I can still wonder why I did it. Also, I still think that the fact that I have a human being growing inside of me is slightly strange. We attempted to go maternity clothes shopping again today, but everytime I look at the tents I will soon be forced into wearing, I get slighty disheartened, and we have to leave the store quickly. Plus, I don't care how little the doctor says this little person inside of me is right now, because I KNOW that it has found my bladder and has inherited it's father's sense of humor. great. :) I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end... at least that is what I am told. Anyways, we now have cute little sprouts popping up from the spice plants my mom gave us! They are very cute. That's about all the exciting news we have for now.........
