South Portland Kite Festival

Every year the city of South Portland puts on a huge kite festival at Bug Light State Park.  Thousands of people showed up to fly their kites, and some of those kites were huge!  They even had candy drop from one of the kites, and bol races for the kids... which is basically where they harness each kid up to a big parachute and make them run. It was fun to watch. :)

Logan wanted me to take a picture of his favorite kite... he told me to keep it forever.

Logan getting ready to pop a super huge bubble.

The after effects of running into a super huge bubble. :)

Sunny Days

Every once in a while we get a good 80 degree day...

Mia and her best buddy, Ellie.

Ry boogie boarding in his new wetsuit

Love the sail boats that pass through

First hermit crab find of the season

Logan lost another tooth!

The Kentucky Derby is a lot bigger out here than in the west... we were invited to a Derby party by a couple of Ry's attendings...with traditional food and lawn games.  It was fun!

Our favorite ice cream shop has officially opened again.... Oh, how I missed you Blueberry Pie ice cream!

Logan figured out that knowing how to ride a bike also means you know how to ride a dirt bike.  He loves to race around on our next door neighbor's.

Pineland Farms

Logan's preschool class took a trip to Pineland Farms in Gloucester, and Mia and I "chaperoned."

Logan with his chicken.

The super cute preschool class...Logan as the ring leader, as usual.

Mia petting the baby cows

Logan milking a real cow!

I was sure that Mia would be too scared, but she jumped right up and milked the cow too!  She gave the cow a big hug after she milked it, and now likes to tell everyone that she "squeezed the cow's pooper."  I have explained time and again that she did not, in fact, squeeze anywhere near the poop, but apparently it is just to funny to say to change her story. :)

Pemaquid Point & Boothbay Harbor

Pemaquid Point is the lighthouse that appears on the Maine State quarter, so we put it on our "must see" list.  It is located in Bristol,  which is one of the cutest coastal towns ever.  There were several plaques all over marking the different ships that had either landed/wrecked there... in the 1600's!  I still can't get over how old everything is over here... and to think there are door knobs in Europe older than anything over here! After hiking around the lighthouse, we backtracked to Boothbay Harbor, and enjoyed a wonderful lunch at a brick oven pizza joint.  Then we went into Freeport, where I got almost all of Logan's school shopping done... love, love, love clearance racks in outlets!

Ryley's 30!!

This handsome, amazing man turned 30!  He wanted apple pie instead of cake, and a couple weeks after we had friends over for a big celebration barbecue.  I am the luckiest woman in the world to get to call this man mine.  I'm not sure how I ended up winning the lottery, but I thank God every day for blessing me with this loving, hardworking, compassionate guy that I get to keep forever.  He also happens to be our kids' biggest hero.  Happy Birthday to my forever!

Mud Season

Springtime in Maine is referred to as "mud season"....lots of melting snow + lots of rain = lots of mud :)  Here are some pics of us enjoying it all...

We have a family of cardinals that live in our backyard...such a pretty site to see!

Ryley trimming our trees.... a few minutes after this I looked out and saw Logan trying to hand him a saw... from about 10 feet below.  No worries, I saved Ryley's leg from being cut off. :)

Logan is the family fire starting expert.

How my kids usually look after playing outside...

They rediscovered the dress up box... I looked outside and thought some neighbor kids were using our trampoline!

Because playing in the dirt in the driveway is way cooler than playing in the sand in your sandbox.

Beautiful weather + lots of toys= lots of quiet time for mommy :)

This is Logan's "experiment"...it is a piece of asphalt in water with a control of just water.  Logan thought it up all by himself, set it on my countertop and said, "Mom, come get me if this explodes." :)
