Two Lights, Sebago Lake and Old Orchard Beach

Ry had a few days off (all in a row!) (during residency!) (yeah for Emergency Medicine!)  Anyway, we took full advantage of them and explored more of this beautiful state.

Two Lights State Park

Some of our new friends invited us out to Two Lights State Park where we had a picnic dinner, and took in the beautiful rocky coastline.  Logan liked to stand right on the edge.  Of course... what better way to give his mom a heart attack?

My naughtiest lady.

Sebago Lake

Then we made the 45 minute drive out to Sebago Lake State Park, Maine's 2nd largest lake.  It is huge!  And gorgeous.  Logan jumped in the water and swam around the entire day.  Little fish. :)

Mia preferred the sand.

It looks like I am a super trusting mom, letting my son swim alone in the lake.  But, actually, he could touch the bottom the whole time.

Sand Castles!

Mia finally did get in the water for a bit.  She loved to "jump, jump, jump!"

Old Orchard Beach

Ignore the weird faces in this picture... I mostly wanted to get a pic of the pier fries.  Because everyone talks about them.  They pretty much tasted like greasy french fries.

My sand lady.

There were so many people at Old Orchard Beach.  Probably never going back there again.  But, it was fun for a one time trip.

Mia did win a giant pink dolphin at one of the carnival games.  She was pretty excited.

On Old Orchard Pier

Look at my cute husband!  And all those people in the background... I have never seen so many people on a beach.  Like, never even 1/10th as many.

More Maine Fun

Mia hordes seashells.  Logan catches frogs.  We eat lots of blueberries.  :)

"Mine seashells" she says.

This is how Mia eats a jelly toast.

We caught a frog in our backyard!  So fun.  Frogs and fireflies.  And I didn't think Maine could get any better.

Picking blueberries!

Look at all those berries!  Now I need to figure out what to make with them before Ry wakes up and consumes the whole 7 lb flat in one sitting.

My Birthday

Happy Birthday to me!  Every year has been better than the last.  This year was fun, and full of beaches, chocolate, and great food.  I got lots of kisses from my cuties, and Ry was even (mostly) home!  I am one lucky girl.

Ry and I got to go out on the town and test some of Portland's amazing food options.  Everyone knows that Maine is famous for its seafood, but not many know that it also has amazing italian food!  Lucky me, because Italian happens to be my favorite. :)  We got caught in a massive thunderstorm and were soaking wet by the time we got into the restaurant, but it was soooo worth it.

My cute hubby at dinner.  I promise he was actually happy.

Yummy goat cheese ravioli.  Ry had halibut and shrimp past cooked in squid ink.  Ew.

Our good friend watched the kids for us, and when we got home, this was waiting!

What is a birthday without a naked baby snitching cake?

More Higgins

Maine has a bazillion beaches, and they all offer something wonderful and different.  We love Kettle cove for the tide pools, willard for the proximity and super soft sand, and fort williams for the history.  But, right now, pus very favorite is Higgins, where we can boogie board, swim, and look at an old ship wreck. :)

We were smart and borrowed some wetsuits.  I can stay in the water now for almost 40 minutes without going numb now! :)

Higgins also has lots of little puddles left by the tide that the kids love to swim in
