Grandma & Grandpa's Visit: Sebago Lake, the Drive In & Smiles

SEBAGO LAKE/ DRIVE-IN

We ended the week with a trip out to Sebago and watching Inside Out at the drive in.  Snuggling in blankets, cute little giggles, and fireflies dancing around us...it was the perfect way to wrap up our week of adventure.

SMILES!

Evy gave her grandma quite a few smiles to take on the road with her. :)

Grandma & Grandpa's Visit: Dance Class, Love Locks & Peaks Island

DANCE CLASS
Mia at her dance class.  Such a cutie pie!

LOVE LOCKS

Just like Paris, there are love locks in Portland, Maine.  You can read about them here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_lock
Ry and I locked one up inscribed with "the Enz clan"

PEAKS ISLAND

We caught the ferry out to Peaks Island and rented a golf cart to sightsee.  Peaks has the most beautiful houses I have ever seen... I tried to get pictures, but a screaming baby and a hubby with a lead foot thwarted my efforts.

School Days!

The school year has officially started, and I can't believe that we have a kindergartner!  I keep having "holy cow, I can't believe this is already happening" moments... for example, when I pack Logan's lunch, when I watch him dash off the playground with his new best buddies, and every time he brings home paperwork about things like school pictures, fundraisers and box tops.  When did my little man grow up?!  We are doing a co-op preschool with Mia this year, who has so far not minded at all that her older brother is not home to torment her during the week days.

Logan was so brave on his first day!  His only moment of hesitation came as we walked to the school... he grabbed my hand and said, "I'm a little scared, mom."  My mommy heart wanted to scoop him up and run back to the house... but then he saw a playground covered with new friends, and quickly became fearless again.  Ry was able to help drop him off, and we both were so proud as he blew us a kiss and proudly stood in line with his kindergarten class... even with lots of sobbing little kids clinging to their parents around him.

His teacher's name is Mrs. Levesque.  Logan loves school so much that on Friday's he says, "Mom!  Only two more days until I get to go back to school!  I'm soon excitedddddd!!!!" :)  Hopefully the enthusiasm lasts through the year.

Also, after school one day, his teacher grabbed me and said, "Logan is doing so great.  He is such a wonderful example and role model to the other students.  He is so compassionate!  He is always looking out for his friends.  You are raising one sweet, compassionate little boy right there."  I was so proud and just about burst into tears right there.  Love my little man!

Mia and I passed away the time on the first day by making some pumpkin chocolate chip cookies for Logan to come home to.

My biggest Mia!  I can't believe she is already reciting her letters to me.  How did she grow up this fast? After watching her big brother be so brave, she said, "I can be brave like Logan, mommy.  I won't cry at my dance class anymore."  And she didn't!  The next class we went to, she walked in, sat by her teacher and gave me a little wave.  Then she danced her little heart out.  She also now goes right to nursery.  The first time it happened I told her I was going to my class.  She said, "Will my teacher protect me?  I'll be brave, mommy.  I won't cry."  I walked out in complete shock.  Then I stood by the door for a long time waiting for a breakdown that never came.  It's a good thing I have my little Evy... Logan and Mia are now such big, independent kiddos!

Grandma & Grandpa's Visit: Mackworth Island, Apples & Pizza

Leon and Kathy were able to come visit us for a whole week!  We did our best to jam pack it with everything we love about Maine.

MACKWORTH ISLAND

Building fairy houses!

APPLE PICKING

We went Apple Picking, and Leon and Kathy treated us to 2 bushels of apples... so. many.apples. :)  Thanks to my great mother-in-law I now have 12 quarts of apple pie filling and 3 quarts and 2 pints of applesauce.  We have also made too many apple pies and apple crisps.  And we still have a whole bushel left of yummy cortland and graventstein apples to last us though the winter!

PIZZA

Maine has about a million and one pizza shops.  We took Leon and Kathy to Otto's to try our new favorite Baked Potato and Bacon Pizza.
