The 123 Kid and Entropy

Spring is here... and it came just in time!  Logan and I had had just about enough of this Utah winter.  Don't get me wrong, we love a good snowfall... but getting sick every other week had just about pushed me over the edge. :)  With all of this good weather, we have been frequenting the park, zoo, and duck pond.  Even though we were outside quite a bit throughout the winter (my personal rule is that if it is above 32 degrees, we go outside for a bit), it's so nice to feel the sunshine on our faces!  Here are some of our recent adventures:

One sunny day we went and visited all of our friends at the Village.  Logan fell in love with this frog,  and had to give it lots of kisses before we left.

The Village

Watching his "Moobies" with Dad

Another not-so-sunny day we went to this way fun place called "Bouncin' off the Walls."  It's basically this big room with tons of blow up houses and slides.  We went with some of our buddies from MSA, and Logan had a blast!  He took his very first 3 hour nap after this adventure!

Mommy left Logan for the longest time EVER and went snowboarding at The Canyons in Park City!  The day was great, and I had actually fallen a pretty minimal amount... until the very end... when Ryley convinced me to snowboard down to the cars instead of taking the lift.  I was too tired, and after smacking my head on the ice 20 something times, I ended up carrying my snowboard and walking the last two miles. Next time, I'l know when to stop!

Logan loves to ask, "Where'd it go?"  Here he is asking where the "quirl" went at the zoo.  He would shout "Peek-boo!" every time it reappeared.  This little boy gets more and more fun every day!  Every time we leave an animal area he yells "Buh-bye!" to all his furry creatures.  He also does this to every car that drives by, every person we pass, and every park he sees.  So cute.

We planted flowers!  Logan was such a big helper.. as you can probably tell by all the dirt mixed with chocolate smeared around his face.  The flowers are in big pots in our house until the weather stabilizes enough for them to go outside.  Soon we will start our garden on our deck.  So excited!

Next week we will be busy with the 4th Street Triathlon, so we decided to do a little egg hunt for Logan  this past Saturday.  He couldn't figure out why there were eggs on his grass, and was overjoyed to discover that there was candy inside!!  After that he would just open up all the eggs, dump the candy out onto the grass, and throw the egg to the side.  He couldn't understand why we kept putting them into his basket. :)

He also got some bubbles in his eggs... bubbles are one of his absolute favorite things.
For the MSA closing social we went bowling!  Logan helped me bowl... and sadly I got a much better score when he was helping me than when he wasn't! He was so incredibly thrilled that he got to roll big balls and knock things down.  It was extra fun trying to keep Logan from running down the lane to investigate the pins.  It added a whole new element to the game!

Logan LOVES playing with kids... but only with kids at least 3 years older than him.   At the bowling party there were plenty of kids his age, but he only wanted to follow around the 6 year old group.  He looked so funny running around with all the big boys.  Thankfully they were all very sweet and let him join in on their games.  He though he was SO cool. :) Here he is playing with a cute 6 year old.  He kept shouting "one, two, three!" and hitting him with the balloon.  From there on out, Logan was known as "One, two, three" by all his buddies.

Later that day we went to the duck pond!  There were way more seagulls than ducks, but Logan didn't care.  He actually tried to wade out into the water to catch them.  My no-fear little boy scares me to death!

Here we are at the park.. with Logan trying to escape, as usual.  One of these day I will get a picture of all of us with Logan looking at the camera!

Some more Logan updates:
He knows where just about every body part is....
But...we didn't want to teach Logan the word "Bum", so we just never mentioned that part of the body.  Unfortunately, our little man noticed his rear end and named it himself.  Everyone's bum's are now referred to as "Poops" by Logan.  And he lets everyone know.  In the store, in meetings, in church... so great. :)  So, if you ever get your rear poked by Logan and he yells "poop!" I am SO sorry.  We are working-really, really hard- to fix this. :)

I believe that my son is the embodiment of entropy.  My books are not only taken off the shelf, but de-sleeved.  My dvd's are taken off the TV stand, taken out of their cases, and then strewn throughout the house.  My Phase 10 cards are thrown off the balcony.  My pens are completely disassembled.  My drawers are emptied of their laundry.  My cooking supplies are freed from their shelves.  I won't even get into what happens to everything I cook him, and the state of all my poor potted plants that are within arms reach. :)

I could possibly go on forever about my little guy, but there is another man in my life that deserves some attention, and Sunday is his no-study day.  So, I will write more later. :)

The Loves of my Life

WARNING: This is a ooey gooey post where I get to brag about my sweet little family.

I am the luckiest woman alive.
I have the sweetest little boy in the whole world that is healthy and strong and so smart!  Logan grows up more every single day, and is tricky, and mischievous, and oh so much fun!  He is our little talker, and surprises us every day with new words.  I can't even keep track of them anymore!  Today at the zoo he told me about the peacocks, the turkeys, the squirrel, and and the sheep.  We also went to the Discovery Gateway...coolest place ever!  Logan was so thrilled about the "kids eye view" part.  He was so cute pushing his little shopping cart, and filling up his mini car with gas!  I never would have guessed that being a mom could be so much fun!
I also have the most amazing husband... ever.  I love him so much, and he loves me so much too!  Not a day goes by that I don't know that.  He works so hard in school, and is doing such an amazing job!  I know that he is going to be an amazing doctor.  Even when he is completely stressed out of his mind he still takes time out of his crazy, busy day to spend time with Logan and me.  A few weeks ago we went to the Med School Ball.  It was so much fun, even though the music wasn't the greatest.  We danced all night, and I fell in love with my sweet man all over again.  He is my best friend, and I still have no idea how I managed to get him to marry me.  Oh I love my life.

So, I lost my battery charger so I don't have any pictures of the Discovery gateway or zoo.  But here are a couple pics of our month.

Logan trying to escape.  I fear for when he is a couple of inches taller.

This is Logan's silly face.  He makes it whenever he is, well, being silly, and whenever he is in trouble.  He really is very tricky for a one year old.

Random park in Wendover that we stopped at on our way home from our visit with family.

Riding on the carousel with Daddy.

:)

He inherited the sandals from Aydan and thinks that they are the coolest thing ever.  He takes extra steps because they light up. :)

At the med school ball.  We forgot to take pictures until the very end, which is why we are all sweaty.

We got to watch our niece Zoa for a few days.  It was fun to have a little girl to dress up!  And Logan was such a big helper!  Whenever Zoa woke up from her nap, Logan would tell me "Baby!" He also followed her around trying to put the socks back on her that she was constantly taking off.

Such a strong man

Muscles!  or as Logan says, "Mummus!!"

Logan's Week of Discovery

What an eventful week this has been!  Ryley has been so busy with his first year clinicals, "sensitive exams", and finals coming up this next week that we have hardly seen him!  Yet, my wonderful sweet husband still finds time to help me with dishes, play with his silly kid, and run errands that take forever with me.  Oh I love that man!  My lovely root canal is almost done... and my tooth is now the most expensive thing I own.  :(  So depressing to think that we could have gone on a cruise with what it has cost for this dumb tooth...or got a new car... or got a new computer....  And we even have amazing dentist friends that have given us awesome discounts.  Oh well.  Thus is life.
Logan has been the busiest of all with all of his new discoveries.  He has made good friends with the toilet (several times), tried to fit himself under the railing (thank goodness he got stuck), goes up and down the stairs constantly, has found that our couch has a built in slide that makes mommy nervous (which makes it extra fun, of course), found out that the squishy brown stuff in his diaper is gross to eat but oh so fun to play with, that food is more fun to eat when cut into shapes (which means that this is the only way he will now eat food), discovered that carrots and celery can be sneakily hidden in a vase, that   sledding is kind of fun, and that mom keeps that way cool white stuff known as "flour" in a Logan accessible place... (why oh why did I do that?!) He also learned how to do a somersault all by himself.   OH yes.. he has also learned the word "NO" (from a sweet little girl at the park)  and lets me know his opinion on everything... "do you want a bath Logan" "NO!"  "do you want a snack?" "NO!".... And somehow this week my sweet little boy with the occasional tantrum fit has turned into a terrible tantrum throwing 16 month old with occasional sweet moments.   And over the past four days 5:30 in the morning has become his favorite time to play.
So tired... oh, so tired.
And yet, I love this little man more every day..
And Spring Break is just around the corner!

So handsome for Church...which he has discovered he can get out of
by merely arching his back and screaming at the top of his lungs.
Evidence of the failed escape attempt

Sledding!

Sledding lasted about 5 minutes, and
then we had to come visit the ducks.

Bundled up.

I was so proud that he had eaten all of those carrots that he kept
coming back for... until I saw this.

Celery apparently makes very good swords.

He loves his "cool" glasses.  "Cool" is another one
of his new favorite words.

He knows he's handsome.

Love this little person

I turned around for about 3 minutes to mix my cinnamon rolls...

Saw this heading out of the kitchen....

And feared the worst.

He was so happy with himself!...
I thought, "at least its just flour... flour vacuums up."
Why didn't I just assume that Logan would then go lick all of his flour piles?
FYI- Wet flour is MUCH harder to get up than dry flour.
That was a very long night. :)
Logan somersaulting all by himself!

Lessons in Parenthood Learned This Week...

*Logan will eat just about anything nutritious as long as it is hidden between two slices of bread and cut into the shape of a heart.

*Logan will eat everything inedible... including his own feces.  Which is why from now on he will always have a button up onesie on over his diaper to prevent the lovely scene that ensued this morning.

Yeah for little boys! :)

What a nut!

So, Ry and I have officially decided that we have the silliest little boy that has ever lived. He is such a little ham!  I'll let the pictures explain...

Ok, so this isn't him being silly, but I just love that face so much!

Logan's saggy diaper.  He really liked how it would sway back and forth when he ran.  He thought he was hilarious, which he was, and got very upset when it finally fell off him completely.

This is one of his new looks.  We get it whenever he think's he's being clever.  Which is pretty much all the time.  I'm slightly worried that his eye might get stuck like that...

Reading stories before bedtime. :)

When I want to bug Ry I tell Logan to go tickle his toes.  It's really cute, actually, and he was on his way to do this when I snapped this picture.

So many teeth!  He now has 6 up top, with 2 more coming, and 4 on the bottom, with 4 more on their way.

As a side note, I would like to put out a warning to all those who will be treated by Ryley in the early morning or late night during his first year of rotations... This is what happened to the glass door on my TV stand at 6 in the morning when Ry ran into it on his way to get Logan some food.  Right before this happened I watched him run into the wall next to the door in our room, trying to get out of the door, 3 times.  I love my man so much! :)

Logan loves his raviolies...

Logan helped me make a cheesecake last Friday.  The Crisco got taken away after  I noticed that he was taking big mouthfuls of it.  I guess that's one way to pack the fat onto my skinny little boy. :)

He liked to dip the spoon into the crisco, then into my leftover graham cracker crumbs, and then suck it all off.

The spoon apparently wasn't doing a good enough job.

You should have seen the floor....

Logan the amazing somersaulter.....

The Holidays

The Holiday Season this year was wonderful!  We were blessed to be able to spend time with both sides of the family, and we were completely spoiled by everyone!  Ryley did great on all of his Med school finals, so he was able to relax over the break.. it was so nice to have my husband back! :)  We were able to spend Christmas in Ely and New years in Idaho with Ry's family.  Logan was completely thrilled by all his presents.  Throughout Christmas morning I kept hearing "Oh wow!" and "Oh boy" from my silly little man.  Every time he wakes up in the morning, or from his nap, it is like it's Christmas morning all over again!  There were so many things that happened over the past month or so, that I will let the pictures tell the stories... As for now we are just happy to be back at home, sleeping in our own beds and spending these last few quiet hours together before school starts up again...

The Festival of Trees was amazing!  This is the MSA tree that I helped make decorations for.

Logan saw Santa twice... once at Zoo lights (shown here) and the other at the mall.  He didn't think very much of him either time....
