New York City

I am officially 6 months behind on updating this blog, and it has been a ridiculously crazy 6 months.    Let's start with New York City!

Ryley and Logan's breaks from school/residency magically lined up, and we figured we'd regret it forever if we didn't make it to NYC while we only lived 5 hours from it.. so we loaded up the car and headed south!

Our hotel room was surprisingly huge, clean and pretty cheap for being right next to Times Square!  I didn't have high hopes for staying right in the city, but we were very pleasantly surprised!

Times Square was just as crazy as I thought it would be.

The kids loved all the candy stores!

And, of course, we took full advantage of all the food carts!  This place was awesome.

We thought about going out the the island to be close to the Statue of Liberty, but decided a 2 hour boat ride in April with a one year old might not be the best idea.  I'm still super glad we decided that, but I hope to go back someday when the kids are older and go to the islands!

View of the One World Trade Center from the bay overlooking the Statue of Liberty.

Lots of really cool old churches were everywhere!  Ryley dragged us through all of them. :)

We saw where George Washington to the Oath as the First President of the United States.

Of Course, we had to pose with Fearless girl!

It was such a humbling experience to stand at ground zero and read the names of all those who lost their lives in the September 11th attacks.  The One World Trade Center is beautiful, and being there provided a wonderful opportunity to explain a little better to our kids what happened on that day.

Of course, we needed to mark a NYC hot dog off our bucket list.

The kids loved the subway, and we were so surprised to find out incredibly nice everyone was.  Everyone always stood up to give the kids and I a seat and doors were opened for us everywhere we went.

We were only there 2.5 days, but we tried to squeeze everything in!  Here are a few shots I took while we sprinted through the American Museum of Natural History.  The kids loved picking out the things they remembered from Night at the Museum!

We had lunch in Central Park.  We were lucky to be able to catch the first blooms of spring!

Our last night we decided we had to get NYC pizza!  The kids were thrilled, and we ate it in Times Square, with all the performers running around us.

We decided to splurge and go to the Top of the Rock so we could take in the whole city.  It was amazing! And windy!  And a little bit terrifying. :)

We treated ouselves A LOT while we were there... our final treat being cream pies from Magnolia Bakery.  Yum!
